Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic Holds 43rd Graduation Ceremony

Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic proudly held its 43rd Graduation Ceremony on 25 September at the institution’s main campus in Gwanda. A total of 642 students graduated, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic calendar.
This year’s event celebrated the 43rd Teacher Education and the 19th Technical Education graduation ceremonies, reflecting the Polytechnic’s sustained commitment to excellence in both sectors. Graduates received awards at National Certificate, National Diploma, and Higher National Diploma levels.
Out of the total graduates, 392 were from the Technical Education Division, while 250 graduated from the Teacher Education Division.
The ceremony was held under the theme:
“Transforming Education: Fostering Research, Innovation and Industrialization for a Prosperous and Empowered Upper Middle-Income Society by 2030.”
The theme resonates with the institution’s strategic vision of aligning education with national development goals.
The event was officiated by Honourable Simelisizwe Sibanda, Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, who stood in for the Minister, Ambassador Dr Frederick Shava.
Dignitaries in attendance included Cde Albert Nguluvhe, Minister of State for Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution, and Dr Omphile Marupi, Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services.
Since its establishment in 1981, the Division of Teacher Education has graduated over 17,000 students, while the Technical Education Division, formed in 2004, has produced more than 4,300 graduates. These figures reflect the Polytechnic’s role as a leading institution in driving education, innovation, and skills development in Zimbabwe.
The institution congratulates all graduates and looks forward to their continued contribution to national development and industrialisation.
