The Physical Education and Mass Display department at Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic recently hosted a remarkable event in support of one of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Good Health and Well-being. The event, held at the new site arena, aimed to promote wellness as an active process of growth and change, enabling individuals to reach their fullest potential in terms of physical, emotional, intellectual, environmental, social, and spiritual well-being.
The event was a resounding success, with students and staff members alike participating in a variety of fun and engaging activities designed to promote wellness. These included a thrilling game of tug-of-war, hula hoops, block stacking, and other interactive games that encouraged teamwork, physical activity, and mental stimulation.
Leading the event was the Physical Education Director, Mr. Thabani Maphosa, who expressed his gratitude to the students and the college for their enthusiastic participation. “It’s really encouraging to see students take up wellness with all seriousness and show that they want to better themselves in all aspects of their life,” Mr. Maphosa said. His words were a testament to the college’s commitment to fostering a culture of wellness and holistic development among its students.
The event was well-attended, with students and staff members actively participating in the various activities. The enthusiasm and energy on display were palpable, and it was clear that the event had a profound impact on all who participated.
By hosting this event, the Physical Education and Mass Display department demonstrated its commitment to promoting the well-being of its students and staff. The event served as a reminder that wellness is a multifaceted concept that encompasses not just physical health but also emotional, intellectual, environmental, social, and spiritual well-being.
We commend the Physical Education department for their efforts in organizing this event and look forward to more initiatives that promote the well-being of our students and staff.
